If you are looking for quick and easy, overnight oats with berries is perfect for you! With only 4 base ingredients, you can have a healthy breakfast ready for the week in 5 minutes!
Jump to RecipeI make my overnight oats on Sunday, and heat them up throughout the week. I usually make 2-3 for myself and 2-3 for my twin boys. It makes preparing breakfast in the morning SOOOO EASY and stress free.
I mix and store my oats in 16 ounce mason jars. They seem to be the perfect size.
Common questions about overnight oats:
Do you cook overnight oats?
No, you do not have to cook overnight oats. The quick oats will soak in water or milk overnight and be ready to heat in the morning. No cooking involved!
How many days will they last in the refrigerator?
I keep mine up to 5 days in the refrigerator and I’ve never had any issues. So, I recommend 5 days.
Can you put the toppings in with the rest of the ingredients?
Yes you can, however I wouldn’t suggest it. If you are adding coconut, nuts and seeds, those are best added fresh, otherwise they will lose the nice “crunch” they have when fresh. Everything else can be added ahead of time.
How to make these dairy-free, nut-free and/or gluten free:
To make dairy-free: use your favorite milk alternative (almond milk, cashew milk, etc) or use water in place of milk. I add water to mine because I have a sensitivity to almonds, and they still taste great!
To make gluten free: use gluten free oats!
To make nut-free: use oat milk or water instead of nut milk.
How do you heat overnight oats?
You can heat in the microwave for about 1 minute (don’t heat plastic) or my preferred method; in a pan on the stove for about 5 minutes. Heat the oats before adding your toppings.
