Overnight Oats with Berries

Equipment

  • 16 oz mason jars, or storage containers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats be sure to purchase gluten free oats for gluten sensitivities
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh berries (any berries will work!)
  • 1/2 cup nut milk or water

Optional Toppings:

  • unsweetened coconut flakes
  • maple syrup
  • sea salt (recommend!!)
  • cinnamon
  • pumpkin seeds
  • nut butter / peanut butter
  • fresh fruit

Instructions

  • Layer oats, chia seeds, berries and milk/water in 16 ounce mason jar (or storage container).
  • Cover and shake until everything mixes together. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

To prepare to eat:

  • Heat in the microwave or stove-top in the morning. Once heated, pour into a bowl (optional) and add your preferred toppings.
    My favorite way to eat these oats are topped with unsweetened coconut flakes, raw pumpkin seeds, maple syrup and sea salt. :)

Notes

To heat:
Microwave- warm for about 1 minute. Do not heat plastic
Stove-top (my preferred method): pour into a pan and warm for about 5 minutes. 
Note: You will most likely need to add more liquid to your oats in the morning.
