Try these easy, french toast sticks. They are great for your child, or yourself! A healthier version of the classic french toast.
We have french toast Friday’s over here! My toddlers eat these up! Lately, I’ve been adding a handful of spinach into the mix to get in extra veggies!
This is a budget friendly recipe as well! All you need is a couple slices of bread, an egg, cinnamon and a little bit of milk. Add whatever toppings you have on hand!
French Toast Sticks
Ingredients:
- 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons dairy free milk
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Toppings of choice: we like using berries, unsweetened coconut flakes and maple syrup
- Optional add in’s: spinach or any of your favorite greens!
Directions:
- Heat a skillet over medium-low. Add 1/2 TBSP coconut oil.
- Mix the egg and milk together in a medium size bowl (big enough where your piece of bread will lay flat). Add the cinnamon. Mix.
- Dip 1 piece of bread into the mixture and then flip the piece of bread, soaking the other side as well (you will flip fairly quickly because you don’t want the piece of bread to get super soggy)
- Cook the bread on the warm skillet for a few minutes per side, or until the egg is cooked. Flip and cook the other side. Repeat with the other slice of bread.
- Cut the bread into slices, add your toppings, and serve warm!
