Ditch the store bought jam and start making your own! This sugar-free jam only requires 2 ingredients and is VERY easy to make! No added sugar or other additives normally found in store bough jelly or jam.
This is the jam I make for my boys. They love it and I love that it’s so easy and cheap!
Berries: You can use fresh or frozen berries. I generally stick to frozen because it’s been more cost effective. If you are buying berries that are in-season, it might be cheaper to buy fresh! I’ve used strawberries, raspberries and mixed berries for this jam! They all work great!
Chia seeds: The chia seeds are used to thicken the jam. Plus, chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants, high in Omega-3 fatty acids and high in protein!
How to make chia seed jam:
- Heat 2 cups berries in a sauce pan. Heat on medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until soft enough to mash.
- Mash berries using a potato masher.
- Add 1 TBSP chia seeds.
- Allow to cool, then store in an airtight container, and place in the refrigerator.
